Technology is a tool that has transformed all facets of our lives over the last few years, including college education. But what good is having technology available if you do not employ it while learning?
Just a third of professors surveyed in CDW-G’s recent
"21st Century Campus" report said technology is fully integrated into their classes. Also, while 63 percent of students surveyed said they use technology to prepare for their classes, just 24 percent said they use it during class.
This inability to combine technology with teaching can become a serious flaw for college students, as they will be instructed by methods and techniques that will be outdated and inapplicable when they join the job market. It frustrates their learning efforts as well. “Why,” they wonder, “can I order merchandise from the college online immediately, but I cannot access their computer networks when I am off campus?” (That’s the case in at least a third of all institutes of higher learning in America.) It is an outdated approach designed to meet the needs of the university before that of the students.
Fortunately for students, there is an immediate answer to this dilemma –
StraighterLine, a new online education solution for entry-level college courses. We at StraighterLine allow students who have grown up using technology in their high school studies or part of their current employment to direct those skills into their coursework with us as much as possible. In fact, we designed our system expressly to provide them with as many technological tools so that all they need to use for their studies is their laptops or PCs.
If they have a question about their material, they can contact one of our online tutors 24/7 and receive immediate one-on-one assistance. If they want to talk to other students about their learning experiences or learn the latest news and events about our program, our
social networking site provides them with these features and much more, something many colleges lack. We also provide tips via
podcasts on the site – something nearly a quarter of colleges and universities in the United States fail to provide as well.
So, if you want a 21st century education, but not via a 20th century setting, we are your best answer. Prepare for your future by enrolling in a program designed for the future way of studying – StraighterLine.
